Bad Things

erratic_prophet | 17 August, 2006 11:31

I've been trying to keep up with work, yearly doctor appointments, getting the kids ready for school, and still leaving some time for me to curl into a fetal position in the back of my closet to sob quietly about the cesspool that is my life. It's hard. Not the sobbing, that comes naturally.

I've found out that I'm not the only person at working looking for a new job. Quite a few others are as well. Some have succeeded. I am happy for them, but I also feel the tug of self pity. I want a nifty job that pays more! I'll settle for a job that pays more.

Took the kids to the dentist and went to the dentist myself. The kids are great. No cavities. The Girl will eventually need braces, though. Me? I've got a bad tooth. A bad, bad, naughty wisdom tooth that needs to come out. I've only got two wisdom teeth in-- they took their sweet ass time coming in, let me tell you, I've been waiting for them all to come in for 18 years now-- and now those two will be gone this time next week. I'm hoping I get the good drugs. Maybe they'll make work more tolerable.

Not that work has been miserable, per se. No one's yelled at me or demeaned me or anything. It's just the usual crap that's become unbearable. I've stopped shoveling and it's piled up around my ears. I've lost my patience with the place. The only thing that's kept me there is the fact that I do need the money and my coworkers. My coworkers are slowly but surely leaving. I'm hoping to, too.

I've made this dreary and depressing, haven't I? Well, I guess that's what you can expect from something titled Bad Things, huh? Here's another bad thing thinly disguised as a good thing: My father received a 20GB iPod. He forced me-- no, really, he did!-- to take it and, in turn, took my sweet little 1GB Creative Zen Nano. Within the first two days, the damn iPod cost me $50 and my father $35 for accessories. I could've bought a new Creative Zen Nano and had money left over! I told him that I intend to get a better mp3 player and I will chuck this damn iPod under the wheels of the nearest bus as soon as I can. But, at least, I can put all of my music on it.

See? There was a happy ending after all.

All the best for your dental appointment. I am so scared of dentists. I must go myself for a check up, like you, my wisdom teeth are still coming through, and i'm 43! Beg for the drugs, they tell me its worse than childbirth!

Michelle- Thanks! I planned on begging for every drug they can give me from the very first. I'm not a hero.

J- Maybe you did.
